George Logan, a Corbis Images contributing photographer, won a 2010 Campaign Photo Award for his Red Road series at the July 7 event in London.
Celebrating photographic excellence, the annual Campaign Photo Awards recognizes outstanding professional photography in creative advertising from around the world. Logan’s Red Road series, part of the Crush collection, contains otherworldly scenes with biblical undertones, set against the backdrop of the Red Road flats in Glasgow. Built with hope and optimism in the 1960s, the Red Road flats were intended to be “villages in the sky.” Poverty, crime, and chronic under investment, however, lead the flats to become uninhabitable. While the buildings have been earmarked for demolition, thousands of people continue to live in them. Logan’s collection captures the dramatic beauty of this urban landscape.
