Olympic Photographer: Ben Radford

May 24, 2012

Sports photography has allowed Ben Radford to work in more than 80 countries, photographing most of the great sporting events in the world, and many of the great sports men and women of the last 20 years.

His career started as a freelance sports photographer in the mid-eighties working for local newspapers in West London, photographing Chelsea, Fulham, and QPR football. He was then approached by Chelsea Football Club and became their official photographer, creating the content for their match-day magazine and weekly newspaper. He joined Allsport (later to become Getty Images) in 1988, where as a Senior Sports Photographer he photographed many of the iconic sports events, including FIFA World Cups, UEFA Champions League Finals, Summer and Winter Olympics, F1 Motor Racing, World Championship Swimming, Grand Slam Tennis, and English Premier League.

After 18 years at Getty Images it was the right time to leave, as he was in need of a new challenge and wanted to work in new ways. In 2007 he resumed his freelance career and signed an exclusive contributor contract with Corbis Images, for whom he covers a wide range of sports and events. This change has given him the opportunity to re-discover his love of sports photography and to freshen up his approach, which allows him to produce some of the most creative sports photography in his career to date.

In 2010 he co-founded Visionhaus – a sports photographic agency specializing in creative commercial sports photography. Visionhaus also has a strong relationship with Corbis Images and has been a regular contributor since early 2011.

Ben is specialized in covering Soccer, Tennis, and Golf. He is able to deliver high quality imagery covering the right moments and angles to a “best in class” standard, clean in its style. Even though Ben has only been with Corbis for a couple of years, he is already one of our most successful contributors, selling lots of images both to editorial and commercial clients. He is available for tailored coverage throughout the Olympics should requests come up.

Hello, my name is Vadim, and i work for Ossetian magazine. Sorry for taking your time, but it would be wonderful if you could help me. We`re making a big article about our ossetian sportsmen, and I want to borrow the photo of Zarema Kasaeva from you. Zarema won bronze medal in Athines-2004 and I saw her on your photos from there. I would be very happy, if you help me and give the photo. Thanks for your time.
